According to Barna’s most recent State of Discipleship report, only 1 percent of church leaders believe that “today’s churches are doing very well at discipling new and young believers.”
The Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 commands Christians to go and make disciples. In the State of Discipleship Report of 2019, Barna research showed that only 17 percent of Christian adults even know what the Great Commission is and what it means. Only 20% are involved in some sort of discipleship activity.
If Jesus is the only way to experience abundant life, how can women be discipled in how to encounter Him in their personal lives?
How can we equip them to make disciples within their communities?
First Love seeks to break down barriers that keep women from encountering Jesus in their personal lives. Whether it’s helping women reject shame by understanding their identity in Christ or giving them tools to engage Scripture, our desire is that women would be able to personally experience the love and beauty of Jesus. In a culture where performance, fear and self-centeredness run rampant, we believe that the only way to true freedom is through the infinite work of Christ. As we choose to pursue knowing Him, rather than simply knowing about Him or doing things in His name, we will become truly alive.
